Cameron provides Laminar with 30 years of financial markets experience focused on originating, structuring and managing fixed interest assets. Cameron founded Laminar in 2009 and his deep understanding of capital markets and treasury management has seen Laminar become a leading provider of fixed interest advice, investment management and treasury services.
With experience gained at global investment banks, broking houses and fund management firms, a strong focus on client relationships and a deep understanding of the operational aspects of the fixed interest markets, Cameron’s clients benefit from the knowledge and expertise accumulated over his career of servicing financial institutions, corporate clients and fund managers.
Cameron has a degree in banking and finance from Monash University, post graduate qualifications in applied finance and financial planning, is a Certified Finance and Treasury Professional and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Head of Capital Markets
Con is Head of Laminar’s Capital Markets Business and a Partner of the business. With 12 years of financial markets experience Con is responsible for all facets of the Capital Market’s business including senior and subordinated debt origination, for corporations and authorised deposit-taking institutions, and the daily trading flow of the company.
Primary debt origination exceeds $2 billion and the daily trading flow includes senior and subordinated fixed and floating rate notes, hybrid securities, and residential mortgage-backed securities (right across the capital structure). Con is the preferred dealer to a number of boutique funds and has long-established relationships with leading institutional and government accounts.
Con has a Masters in Applied Finance from Macquarie University, a Degree in Banking & Finance from Victoria University, and a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning).
Head of Treasury Advisory
Matthew Findlay is a treasury and securitisation professional with over 15 years experience responsible for Laminar’s structured finance origination and ADI treasury advisory. He has established and leads Laminar’s MTG Trusts Securitisation program which facilitates mutual ADI securitisation transactions, acting as Arranger and Trust Manager, currently overseeing the management of $700 million of mortgage assets. Matthew also provides treasury funding, investment and risk management advice to mid-size mutual ADIs and is portfolio manager for over $500m in liquid assets.
Prior to joining Laminar Matthew held senior treasury roles at Heritage Bank, Australia’s largest mutual bank and was instrumental in growing their securitisation program across bank funded warehousing, domestic and euro term RMBS transactions and self-securitisation transactions. Matthew implemented treasury dealing and securitisation data management and reporting systems and managed the investment and derivative portfolios.
Most recently Matthew was treasury manager at Bananacoast Community Credit Union (bcu) where he used his securitisation experience to establish their securitisation program, structure a multi-seller term RMBS transaction and was responsible for interest rate and liquidity risk systems, modelling, reporting and portfolio management.
Matthew has a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Southern Queensland and post-graduate qualifications in applied finance and investment from Finsia.
Head of Business Development
Michael brings to Laminar Capital over 25 years of Fixed Interest Sales trading and management experience.
Prior to joining Laminar Michael spent 5 years as a Director of Fixed income at Ord Minnett with responsibilities for cash management and ASX listed Debt and Hybrid sales to the Wholesale and Institutional investor market.
Michael has held senior positions within Global and domestic Banks including as Managing Director of Fixed Income at Lehman Brothers and senior sales positions at Credit Suisse and National Australia Bank.
Michael’s knowledge and experience of a broad range of Fixed Income asset classes including Structured and Asset Backed Securities, Index Linked issues and Corporate and Government debt compliments the diversity of Laminar Capital.
Senior Relationship Manager
Michael is the Senior Dealer & Business Development Manager. With over 10 years of financial markets, treasury and banking experience with a proven track record, and great ability to share his enthusiasm for cash and fixed income investment products, helping take the complex and break it down into the simple for all clients. Michael is responsible for developing key market relationships and covers the breadth of Laminar’s products as well as assisting clients execute transactions in the fixed interest markets.
Michael joined the Laminar team in 2016. His most recent role was as the Senior Manager Treasury Funding at Suncorp Bank (Australia’s 5th largest bank) where he managed a national portfolio of wholesale clients totaling $7.5 billion. Michael has extensive experience in relationship management and business development; servicing clients within the institutional, corporate and government sectors.
Michael enjoy’s building long term business relationships and he take’s great pride in providing value to his clients in order to help meet their financial needs and goals through tailored investment solutions.
Michael has a Masters in International Economics and Finance from the University of Queensland, a Bachelor Degree in Commerce from Griffith University, and a Diploma of Financial Planner (RG146 Compliant).
Analyst / Junior Portfolio Manager
Rio has 5 years financial markets and operational experience with exposures to foreign exchange, money market and financial data. Rio started his career at UBS AG in Singapore as FXMM Client Service Officer covering clients in the Asia Pacific region. Responsibilities included providing post-trade supports in areas such as settlement, confirmation, compliance, on-boarding and account maintenance.
Following Rio’s experience in Asia, he worked for Interactive Data as their Client Support Specialist where one of his main responsibilities was to ensure the successful and timely delivery of financial data while maintaining key relationships with clients.
In 2016, Rio joined Laminar Capital in the role of Dealers Assistant/Analyst. Since then his role has expanded to include responsibility for managing portfolios within Laminar’s fixed interest management and advisory business. Laminar benefits from Rio’s understanding of the end to end process of transacting, managing and settling fixed interest assets.
He has a double degree in Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business Information Systems from Monash University. He is also a certified Financial Information Associate.
Stephen has worked in the finance industry for over 40 years as a financial strategist and economist. His extensive career gives him the ability to understand not just what’s happening in the markets but what that means for investors and their portfolios.
Stephen has been a regular contributor to the business press in Australia and overseas commenting on the outlook for the global economy and investment markets.
Stephen’s long career includes 20 years as Australian Chief Economist for various large domestic and international banks. Stephen was the first Treasury Economist at Westpac where he spent time in London and New York.
He has managed money as the portfolio manager specialising in strategic asset allocation overlays for Westpac Investment Management, Sagitta and BT.
Stephen has worked in the economics department of the Bank of New South Wales/ Westpac where he was seconded to the Secretariat of the Australian Financial System Inquiry (Campbell Committee).
Manager Settlements and Operations
With 10 year’s experience working in back office functions, Brett ensures the rigour of Laminar’s settlements, reporting and compliance frameworks.
His previous roles include settlements team leader at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank where he lead the team responsible for the authorisation and successful completion of cash, fixed interest, derivatives and foreign exchange trades.
He was Citibank (Belfast) trade surveillance officer, monitoring Citibank trading activity in Equities and ETD products for insider trading, pre-arranged and layering. He commenced employment with Laminar Capital in early 2015 as manager of settlements.
Brett has worked in conjunction with software programmers to create and test systems to integrate with existing software and implement specialised applications for fixed interest portfolio management and money market trading – Laminar’s Treasury Direct.
Brett is responsible for the timely settlement of all financial markets transactions undertaken by Laminar
